Hibernation II

It is about 30 degrees Fahrenheit warmer, today.  But the kids are still in sleep mode.

Guess What's Missing?

I took this shot in the midst of Rob jumping up and down in pain.

Hibernation

That's how Charlie and Jack are handling the frigid temperatures!

Creeping Along

I haven’t posted anything on Gentle 6 in a very long time because there is nothing new to post. Our state has had our paperwork since September. They just issued our foster care ILS, today. Last August, it really looked like we could have a new dossier ready to send to China by March 2011. Now, I’m guessing it’ll be months later.

We’ve been studying 1 John at church. The purpose of John’s letter as I understand it was to identify false teaching and restore joy in believers. Our idea of joy (happiness) is not currently in my list of feelings regarding this paperwork process. However, I can attest that I am feeling the joy John was referring to, a sense of satisfaction. I know God has a plan for Gentle 6. We’ll continue to pray, “Your will be done.” I just wish we could hurry up and find out what God’s will in this case is!

Out of the Mouths of Babes

I am not a resolution maker, but do hope to work on creating thankful hearts in 2011.  In doing so, I thought I'd share some of the comments that tickled me most in the past week...
  • I said, "Don't you know that your mother knows all things?"  Rob said, "If you know everything, tell me God's middle name."
  • Charlie said, "Are snakes smart, Dad?"  Mike said, "I don't know."  Charlie said, "Did you know fish are smart?"  Mike said, "No.  Why?"  Charlie's response, "They swim in schools."
  • I say, "Good night, Jack."  Jack giggles, "Good morning, Mom!"  In the morning, I say, "Good morning, Jack!"  Jack rolls over and smiles, "Good night, Mom."
Lastly, I complimented Jack on decorating this snowman.
He acted offended and told me it was a dump truck.

Christmas? Again? Anyone?

The further we get from celebrating Christmas, the more Jack seems to want to celebrate.
• The minute a shirt goes over his head, he refers to himself as Baby Jesus.
• Every Lego creation is Santa’s sleigh.
• Yesterday, he worked all afternoon and evening perfecting his version of “Up on the Housetop.”

The kid is such a joy. He loves the camera. And he has had an amazing burst of language development just in the past week.
• Just a week ago, Jack called himself, “Da.” Now, “Jack” couldn’t be clearer.
• September, he started calling Charlie, “Chardie,” before October it was, “Moo Yah.” Just a few days ago, he started saying Charlie’s name properly too.

It will be a pure delight to watch Jack flourish in 2011!
